Extra Curricula Activities

From time to time, excursions to places of educational interest are undertaken. Parents will be advised when such visits are to occur and an excursion letter will be sent home. This letter which outlines details has a return slip which should be sent back to confirm parents' knowledge of the excursion.

School Camps are an important learning and socialising experience and are part of the school curriculum for Year 6.

Various Sporting programs within the school provide students with an opportunity to employ and reinforce skills and concepts developed in the Physical Education program, in a more competitive but still supportive environment. These programs include Year 5 & 6 Gala Interschool Sport and associated training sessions; Participation in the Queensland Futsal titles, Qld Cup (Netball) and Rugby League Gala Day; P-6 Athletics Trials and Practice; Rookies to Red; Lunchtime Futsal.

Gala Interschool Sport consists of the students in Years 5 & 6 train each Friday afternoon and participate in a Gala Day in Terms 2 and 3 with a variety of local Catholic Schools.

Students in Year 5 and 6 are also selected at school level to participate in Southern Scorpions District trials in various sports including AFL, Cricket, Hockey, Netball, Rugby League, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, and Touch Football. In the past and recently, many of our students have been selected to compete at Regional, State and National levels.

St Bernardine's also have Annual Cross Country, Athletics (Years P-6) and Swimming Carnivals (Years 3-6). At these carnivals, students are selected to compete at competitions within the Southern Scorpions District and also in the Catholic Zone 2 Carnivals. Students who are selected for these teams are provided with the opportunity to train in the lead up to these events. Students who are selected in District teams, also continue to train with coaches at school to prepare for Regional competitions.
