Our extra-curricular activities also include programs that enhance academic learning and provide students with additional support and challenges. These include:
- Chess Club: Held once per week, this club is facilitated through Gardiner Chess, who provide a coach to help students learn the various skills of chess. Our school also hosted a chess competition this year, giving students the opportunity to showcase their talents and compete in a friendly environment.
- Maths Olympiad - Selected students in Years 5 and 6 participate in the Maths Olympiad, challenging their problem-solving abilities and mathematical thinking in a competitive environment.
- Parliament House: A small group of our Year 6 student leaders visit Parliament House, providing them with a unique opportunity to learn about the legislative process and the workings of government. This experience helps foster a deeper understanding of civic responsibilities and the importance of active participation in the democratic process.
- Our students are given the opportunity to participate in the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS). This prestigious assessment program offers students from Years 3 to 6 the opportunity to challenge themselves in a variety of subjects such as Mathematics, English and Science. Our students have shown remarkable dedication and enthusiasm, and we are proud of their achievements and growth through this rigorous testing process.
- We participate in the Premier's Spelling Bee. This esteemed competition provides a platform for our students to expand their vocabulary, enhance their spelling skills, and build confidence in a supportive and challenging environment. We are incredibly proud of our students' efforts and accomplishments.
